WELCA/Circles

Our Purpose Statement of the Women of the ELCA says: As a community of Women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit.  We commit ourselves to grow in faith; affirm our gifts; support one another in our callings; engage in ministry and action; and promote healing and wholeness in the Church, the society, and the world.

Zion’s Women meet on the second Tuesday of the month at noon except in May when there is a Prayer Breakfast at 9 a.m. and in December we have a Christmas Tea at 2 p.m. We have seven circles that are assigned the program, hostess duties, hospitality, and visitation to a nursing home each month. During the summer months we meet with Redeemer and Trinity and each hostess once. Also, members of Black River and Silver Creek are included.

In February we deliver carnations to our shut-ins and send Christmas cards to them in December. We also work during the year on several projects such as quilting which meets the first and third Tuesday of each month. Other projects include Personal Care Kits; School Kits; Fabric Kits; and Baby Care Kits. These are sent to Lutheran World Relief with pickups in May and November. We also have several other stewardship projects that we support.

We serve Lenten suppers and the proceeds from it support our youth that attend Bible Camp by paying one-half of their cost.

Our seven circles meet the fourth week of the month and are open to all women of Zion. We have a handbook each year listing our members. Members can be active in many ways: attending the monthly Bible study; financially; and through prayers.
